BIOGRAPHY
Captain Sensible, whose real name is Raymond Burns, is an English guitarist and singer born on April 24, 1954 in Balham, South London. He is best known for being the guitarist and lead singer of the punk rock band The Damned.
Captain Sensible joined The Damned in 1976, shortly after their first album, Damned Damned Damned. With The Damned, he played on five studio albums, including the punk rock classic "Machine Gun Etiquette", before leaving the band in 1984.
After leaving The Damned, Captain Sensible pursued a solo career, releasing seven studio albums between 1984 and 2003. He has also collaborated with numerous other artists, such as Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour, The Who bassist John Entwistle, and singer Elvis Costello.
In 2012, Captain Sensible rejoined The Damned for a reunion tour and remained with the band until 2017. In 2019, he released a new solo album, "The Age of Absurdity".
Captain Sensible is considered one of the most influential guitarists in punk rock. He was ranked 33rd in the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Guitar World magazine, and 36th in the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
