East 17

BIOGRAPHY

East 17 is a British pop group, originally from Walthamstow, London, formed in 1991. The group achieved international success with their debut album "Walthamstow" released in 1992, which reached the top of the UK charts. Their musical style is a mix of pop and hip hop, with influences from dance and R&B. The group consists of four members: Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey, John Hendy, and Terry Coldwell. Mortimer is the main songwriter of the group, while Harvey is the lead vocalist. After several successful singles such as "House of Love", "Deep", and "It's Alright", their second album "Steam" was released in 1994 and also reached the top of the UK charts. In 1997, the group disbanded due to a series of internal conflicts and issues with their record label. In 2006, East 17 reunited with Blair Dreelan replacing Brian Harvey. Since then, they have continued to perform live and release new singles, although their popularity has decreased compared to their peak in the 1990s. Despite their decline in popularity, East 17 remains an iconic figure in British pop music of the 90s, having helped define the sound of the era with their unique mix of pop, hip hop, and dance.
